Memento Mori & MOURNING Jewelry

Memento mori is a piece or jewelry or artwork that serves as reminder of the inevitability of death. Mourning jewelry is a connection to a lost loved one. The tradition of these types of pieces goes back to at least the Middle Ages and was very popular during Victorian times, often using the hair of the person who passed.

Today mourning jewelry is most commonly made for a pet who has passed away by encapsulating a small amount of their ashes. Or using an object that belonged to a loved one, like a button from their shirt, in a piece of jewelry. This is something that you can wear to keep them close.
