Heirloom & LinagE

It is common for family jewelry to be passed down over generations. The materials are valuable, durable, and usually small. So in some cases it is the one thing that was saved.

Many people only have damaged family jewelry. We can look at ways to incorporate what you do have into a new piece.

Other people do not have family pieces at all or may not know their lineage. Creating your own piece is a beautiful way to honor your family line and potentially create your own heirloom to pass down.

Some people like to create their pieces as a gift for a family member or take the workshop with a them. Other people choose to make a piece for themselves.

Before: Damaged heirloom engagement ring. After: Simple gold earrings.

Example of working with an existing heirloom

About this set: the ring on right was made in the workshop and the ring on the left was a plain gold family wedding band. Both rings were set with diamonds from another existing family piece.

Example of creating a new heirloom

About this mother’s gift: it is engraved with the word “love” three times, in the handwriting of her two daughters and their grandmother (found on an old recipe card).

It is also set with the three birthstones of the daughters’ sons. Four generations in one heirloom; the wearer, her mother, daughters, and grandchildren. The sisters made the pendant together in my workshop. Then our engraver mimicked their handwriting.
